The 38-year-old Congressman represents Florida's 17th Congressional district, which includes Northern Miami-Dade and Broward Counties. Meek was selected by Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi as the first freshman member of the 108th Congress to serve on the House Select Committee on Homeland Security, where he now serves as the Ranking Member on the Subcommittee on Management, Integration and Oversight.
